01. Happiness Is a State, Not a Goal

Last updated:

Happiness is not a goal to be reached. It is a state we can learn to remain in.

Naval Ravikant once said that if a person can maintain a peaceful state of mind, that itself is a form of happiness—what he calls peaceful happiness.

Peaceful happiness is the feeling of being fully present in the moment. It is a state in which you are neither being pulled forward by desire nor resisting an experience you do not want. When there is nothing you are chasing and nothing you are trying to escape, what remains is a quiet kind of happiness.
